Hi - old tenor guy in London here. Top performance from Joe on his Conn, but my god I love the second verse of Kenny's piano break in stride style before the chorus.

These cats are family. Random abstract was the first jazz CD I got 35 years ago. Always liked his approach better than Wynton’s, not that it matters. Would be fun to go back in time and revisit some of the shows, miss the time.

I've been playing harmonica for 55 yrs, lots of credits, etc. what Toots does here is mind-blowing ! His harmonic knowledge and agility to transform a simple melody into a major jazz foray is astounding.

Al gets so many colors and sounds from those cymbals

But his musicality? Not feelin' it. I dont know what Joe Henderson does to me, makes me reminisce about my childhood, technicolor films and film scores, wonder, play and freedom to enjoy the moment. One of my favorite musicians by far.
